4 Stars

This book was hard for me to like in the beginning.  It was one of those ones that I almost gave up reading because I really didn't like one of the main characters.  I am happy that I continued reading it though because it turned into an amazing book.

Cammie has had a thing for Grayson since she was seventeen years old.  He is the reason she picked becoming an architect.  Her dream is to get a job and make money and move to Paris.  She wants to prove that she can make it on her own and doesn't need anyone to be there for her.  She never thought that once she had a taste of Grayson that it would be hard to leave.  Can she finally get her dream and move to Paris?  Or will she give it all up for love?

Grayson has wanted Cammie since he first met her, but the fact she was seventeen and his best friends sister kept him away.  He knew he couldn't have her, but he wanted to help her from afar.  How can he do that?  Finally she is graduated and he wants to help her so he gives her an interview for his architect firm.  He wants to help her, but is he really crippling her?  Can he stay away from her?  Or will he finally give into his desire to have her?  Will he be able to let her go though?

This book was hard form me with how Grayson was in the beginning.  But I loved how he was there for her when she needed someone to be there.  I loved how Cammie grew in this book and learned about what she needed.  I really wish we could have gotten into Grayson's head and learned more about why he did some things.  This was an amazing read and I can't wait to read more books by RS Grey.

I paused just outside of the front doors and took a deep breath, trying to get my bearings. I was twenty minutes early for my interview. My outfit was still wrinkle-free. My pad-folio was filled with extra copies of my resume and reference letters, and I’d rehearsed every possible question that Grayson Cole would ask:
Greatest weakness? My inability to settle for anything less than what I deserve. I’m stubborn and persistent.
The honest answer? My inability to overcome my schoolgirl crush on you even though you’re a self-righteous ass.
I would NOT be giving him the honest answer.

Women like Tina Fey, Amy Poehler, and Mindy Kaling are definitely the biggest inspirations for my writing, though I think my work tends to skew a bit smuttier than theirs.

After all, he’s a cocky dude who knows he’s hot-as-hell, and it was only a matter of time before his stars aligned.   But life in Tinseltown is never what it seems.   After being cheated on, Sebastian’s only rule to falling in love is simple: Keep Calm and Don’t Do It. She hides away in a Hollywood mansion, trying to find her way through her twisted past in order to make her future.   He’s the life of the party with girls chasing him down for his autograph. She’s the introvert with a potty mouth who doesn’t even know who he is.   When they meet, stars collide, sparks fly, and clothes come off. 5 Stars

This book was amazing.  It was different than I thought it would be.  It was so much better than I thought it would be.  This book will move you and show you that even though you may have a rough life you can still find love.

Violet is not really living.  Ever since her tragic accident she stays closed off to the outside world.  She doesn't want to let anyone in.  She misses her old life, but she isn't ready to quit mourning everything she lost.  Can she find a healthy balance?  Once her hot neighbor moves in she finds herself opening up to music again.  She is finding that he awakens something in her and she wants more of it.  But will she be able to win over Sebastian?

Sebastian is content with the way his life is.  He swore off relationships ever since his ex messed with him.  He is trying to get into movies and make a bigger name for himself.  He isn't expecting to find a girl who completely takes over his world.  Ever since the night he moved into his new place and heard the girl next door playing her music he was drawn to her.  He couldn't get her out of his mind and he would wait for her every night to play her music for him.  Each night he noticed more and more about her.  He tries to stay away from her because he knows no good can come from it because he doesn't do relationships.  Can he finally open his heart?  Can he learn to trust again?

I love this series and each book gets better than the last one.  These books are definitely some of my favorite reads.  Love Ilsa Madden-Mills and cannot wait for Mila and Spiders book!!!

Prologue
Violet

“Fairy dust is not real. This I know.” —from the journal of Violet St. Lyons
Boom!
I, Violet St. Lyons, who once believed herself the luckiest girl in the world, was born on the same day that the Violette–Sells comet was discovered. My parents, two avid stargazers, said it was a sign of how special I was and promptly named me Violet. They claimed my life had been blessed with fairy dust.
At the very least, comet residue.
I’d foolishly believed it for eighteen years, until the moment of my death.
Which was now.
Boom! Another explosion rocked the plane and metal ripped away as a section of the aircraft to my right vanished. Luggage flew through the air. People disappeared. The mom with the baby who’d sat in the aisle across from us—gone. The redheaded flight attendant who’d been collecting trash—gone. Disembodied screams echoed from the surrounding passengers as my own scream took up most of the space in my head. Air sucked at us viciously from the outside as a tornado of people banged around the space and one by one got pulled out into the swirling abyss.
I watched, helplessly transfixed, as I sat between my parents, gripping each of their hands as the plane we’d boarded six hours earlier for Dublin spiraled toward the Atlantic Ocean. I was going to die. My mother was already dead, a twisted piece of shrapnel sticking grotesquely from her chest as her head lolled around her neck. Blood had already soaked her shirt, yet I refused to let go of her hand. She’d be okay. We were always okay. We were the St. Lyons family of Manhattan, an icon of old money wealth with deep political ties. Page six of the New York Times featured pictures of us on a monthly basis. We couldn’t die on a plane.
Reality dawned as we plummeted. The yellow breathing apparatus dropped and dangled in my face, taunting me with its pointlessness. Fire and black smoke boiled in front of us where the cockpit had been, and my mind recognized that the pilots had to be dead. Just a few minutes ago, they’d come over the intercom and announced that the plane was making its descent into Dublin Airport exactly on schedule.
Then the first explosion had gone off.
Bits of debris flew around, narrowly missing me. My elderly father grabbed my hand and squeezed, his face drawn back in a horrible grimace.
Paralyzed in my seat, we spun like a drunken top, and a part of my brain noticed the sun was rising, its pink tinge lending a soft glow, catching the reflection of clouds and making them silver-lined. The rocky coast of Ireland glittered in the distance. Mocking me. We’d been headed there to celebrate my eighteenth birthday.
Just then my violin case flew past my head from the overhead compartment and crashed against the wall of the plane. Shards flew. I shuddered and wanted to vomit. God, help us. We were here because of me. Our deaths were my fault. I spared a glance at the diamond promise ring Geoff had given me before we’d left.
Would the Mayor of New York’s son go on without me?
The air was turbulent yet thin, and my chest tightened as dizziness pulled at me. I resisted. Had to stay awake. Had to be with my dad. I was younger, stronger, faster. My eyes went to the gaping hole in the plane. Had to think ahead. Plan. Water would fill up the plane on impact, ensuring we’d sink rapidly.
My fear escalated as the ocean rushed at us, its surface choppy and ominous. I took in a giant breath and braced myself. We hit at an angle, the plane a torpedo as it sliced into the sea. Daddy disappeared, ejected by the impact, and I yanked on my seat belt, unclicking it to go after him. Heart thundering, I sent a final look at my mother. I wanted to take her with me, but she was gone.
Water everywhere, bubbling and gurgling as it filled up the plane. Salt water stung my eyes. People floated by, some alive as they floundered for the opening. I kept my gaze off the dead ones. Focus. Get out. Only seconds left.
I swam from my seat and fought my way out of the large hole in the plane, lungs exploding. Burning. I’d been under too long.
Daddy! I caught a glimpse of his red shirt above me and kicked harder.
Up, up, up. Must get up. My arms moved. My legs kicked. Excruciating pain. Ignore it. Almost there. So close that I could see the daylight breaking through the water.
The hottest fire I’ve ever known lit in my chest. Scorching.
Air. Just want to breathe. Just get to the top. Please.
My body rebelled and I inhaled and swallowed water, the burn racing down my throat making it spasm as I tried to cough it out. I struggled but took in more and more, the cold liquid filling my lungs.
Dark spots filled my eyes. This was drowning.
Exhausted.
Done.
My body twitched. I grew disoriented.
I let go of the fight. My hands floated in front of me.
Oblivion.
Darkness.
No bright lights, no tunnel.
No heaven, no mother, no father.
No comets.
No fairy dust.

Chapter 1
Sebastian
Two years later

“She was music with skin.” —Sebastian Tate
I tapped my foot.
What was taking her so long?
From my backyard patio in the Hollywood Hills, I watched the odd girl next door with a pair of high-powered binoculars. She flicked on her porch lights, and a low whistle came out of me at the sexy red-as-sin robe she wore, its silky material flashing around her long legs as she moved around. Her hair was down, too.
This was new. Where were the usual yoga pants? The ponytail?
She looked like she knew someone watched, but that was impossible since our outside lights were off. Even the light from the moon hit our house at such an angle that she shouldn’t be able to see us just by glancing over. She’d need a high-powered lens to know I was here.
Usually she played facing her rose garden, but this time she walked to the right side of her patio, which faced us. Weird. But she didn’t play. She just stood there without moving. Staring toward our house. Uneasiness went over me.
What was she doing?
Could she see me?
As if it were a fragile bird, she positioned the violin under her chin and began playing, arms bent and wrist poised, making the most exquisite sounds. And I don’t mean classical like Beethoven or Mozart; I mean body-thrashing, blood-thumping, hard-as-hell music that had me rooted to the ground, like she’d slapped iron chains on me.
Dark and seductive notes rose up in the air, and I got jacked up, recognizing a Led Zeppelin song, only she’d ripped its guts out and twisted it into something electric. She pushed the bow hard, upping the tempo abruptly, her movements controlled yet wild. My pulse kicked up and my eyes lingered, taking in the slightly parted toned legs and the way her breasts bounced as she jerked her arms to manipulate the strings.
Her robe slipped off her right shoulder, exposing part of her breast. Creamy and full, it quivered, vibrating as she moved her arms. Her rosy nipple teased me, slipping in and out of the folds of the material. I pictured my mouth there, sucking, my fingers plucking, strumming her like my guitar until she begged me to—
Stop, I told myself. Whoever Violin Girl was, she didn’t deserve me lusting after her while she was pouring her heart out with music.
I zoomed in as far as the binoculars would go, watching her surrender to the music as she bent and swayed from side to side with her eyes closed, black lashes like fans on her cheeks. Every molecule in my body focused on her, hanging on to each note she pulled from her instrument.
She finished and kept her head bowed for the longest time, perhaps letting the emotion wash over her like it had me.
The entire event was surreal, yet poignant as fucking poetry.
I let out a deep breath I didn’t even realize I’d been holding.
Who the hell plays Stairway to Heaven with a violin? She did.
Bam! She snapped her head up, her eyes lasering in on mine, making every hair on my body stand at attention.
And then …
Standing there in the moonlight, she untied her robe and spread apart the sides ever so slightly, her movements seeming almost hesitant, as if she’d had to work herself up. Unfamiliar jealousy hit me and I panned out and checked the rest of the patio, expecting to see a lover. Whoever it was, I wanted to rip him apart piece by piece.
My gaze searched her patio, the backyard, her upstairs balcony. Nothing. No one.
She flicked her dark hair back and stroked the lapels of the robe, her fingers lingering over the lacy material. Suddenly the evening smacked of something more than just music. Her arms moved back and forth across the front, opening the robe halfway and then closing it as if she couldn’t make up her mind.
My eyes went up, trying to read her face. Still as a statue, the only movement was her mouth as it trembled, her full upper lip resting against the pouty lower one.
Violin Girl was trapped in a cage of darkness.
It still didn’t stop me from holding my breath, silently begging her to bare herself to me. She’d already laid bare her music. Part of me needed the rest of her.
She jerked the robe closed, making me groan in disappointment.
And then she did something completely crazy.
The lonely girl next door flipped me the bird.

He bites his bottom lip and grimaces. “Fuck!” He growls out to the trees above him and then rolls his shoulders to dissipate some of the stress I see settling there. “Semantics aren’t an excuse. An omission is the same as lying Haddie, but you’re missing the point entirely. It’s not whether it was a lie or not. It’s so damn far from that. It’s you using the sex we’ve had to numb yourself when it should do the exact opposite. It should light your body on fire and burrow so deep under your skin that all you think about is the next time you can have me…because fuck if that’s not what you’ve done to me. So I call your bluff. I’ll keep calling it every fucking day until you admit you want me, that being with me does that to you too…but you won’t will you?” I just remain still, face impassive, body raging with emotion beneath the surface. “You’d rather stand there and tell me you prefer the numb, the void, the nothing, than admit you need me.”
His eyes have their own language as we stare at each other, the power of his words bringing tears to my eyes and knocking the words from my lips. “I was just doing what I thought was best, protecting everyone from more hurt, more everything.” And I hate the numb, I scream silently. I hate it so fucking much that every time we touch you make me feel so alive I realize how dead I’ve felt inside over the past year.
I don’t know why I don’t tell him the rest. Like if I do then I’m just sealing my fate by Murphy’s fucking Law so I keep quiet.
“Really? That’s all you’ve got for me? Next time make sure your eyes and your lips match up City because you’re just adding insult to injury right now. Your refusal to answer is infuriating. Need me Haddie. Use me as your goddamn emotional punching bag or your real one for that matter but fucking need me. I’m not some schmuck who’s going to bolt at the first rough patch and the fact that you still don’t see that is a crock.” He blows out a loud breath, jaw clenched, anger palpable. “I’m so fucking pissed but I’m also so fucking mesmerized by you right now and I don’t know what the hell to do or say. All I know is that protecting someone from the truth is just another way of shutting them out.”

Another amazing read in the Gloves Off series.  I love these books.  Some of my favorite reads.

Camden is on the run from Scar.  Even though Scar is in prison he has people hunting dow Camden.  He is finally hitting his rock bottom and wants to be back home.  He's tired of running.  But once he runs into Brooklyn he wants to know her.  He has never been one to chase woman, but there is something about her that makes him want to know her.  Can he finally let himself be happy?  Or does he think he isn't redeemable?

Brooklyn doesn't like Camden when she first starts trailing him.  She doesn't like the person he was, but once she's following him for awhile she sees a different side to him.  She wasn't supposed to meet him, but plans change and once she does she doesn't know how she's going to stay away.  Can she show him he is worthy of love?  Or will she lose him?

This book was really well written.  Camden has a lot to deal with and work through.  I didn't really like him in Ryley's book, but he started to really grow on me in Gabby and Pax book. I really liked how he developed as a character.  I cannot wait for the last book on this series.  I am intrigued to see where she takes Kyle's book.

5 Stars by Brittany

I don't know how she does it, but LP Dover has managed to capture my attention and continues to give readers another amazing story. Camden's Redemption is the next book in her Gloves Off series.

This is about Camden who has a very dark past. He used to be part of an underground fighting club called the Dark Side. He was jealous of his brother and destroyed their relationship. Now he's in the run because he turned the leader of the Dark Side over to the authorities and helped bring down the fighting ring.

Brooklyn is the undercover agent who is watching him from afar. That is until her boss insists she get to know Camden better and show him around town. But Brooklyn has a past of her own. Will they be able to become friends? If so, at what cost?

This story has a whole lot of forgiveness, love, and a little bit of heart pounding betrayal. I can't say enough good things about the entire series. I have loved each and every story and I can say that each one is unique in it's own way. Once I started this book I couldn't walk away from it and I can't wait to see what's next.

~ Excerpt ~

Pressing his forehead to mine, he closed his eyes and squeezed them tight. “How can you love me?” he asked, his voice gruff. “I do fucked up things that hurt the people closest to me. I can’t promise you that’ll change.”
“No, but you can promise me you’ll try. That’s good enough for me.”
His heated gaze landed on mine, his breaths deep and raspy. The raw energy radiating from him made me tremble in anticipation. “You just fucked up, buttercup,” he growled low. Lifting me in his arms, he carried me off the dock and laid me down on the grass, his body hard on top of mine.
“Why is that?” I whispered. He pushed his cock against me and I moaned, desperately aching to feel him inside me.
“You have awakened something I never knew existed. It rips at my soul and scares the fuck out of me, yet it also makes me feel alive. I don’t want to let it go. I don’t want to let you go.” Lowering his head, he kissed my cheek and trailed his lips down to my neck.
“What are you saying?” I asked.
He brushed his thumb across my lips and lifted his head. “I don’t know if what I feel is love. I’ve never had it before. But goddamn, it sure does feel like it. Whatever happens between us, I can’t let it end. Tell me you don’t want it to.”

I moaned as he lifted my tank top and bra and tossed them to the ground. “I want us to be together, Camden. We don’t know what’s going to happen once everything’s over, but I can promise you my love will not change . . . even when you go back home.”

4.5 Stars

This was a really good book.  I loved the characters and can't wait to read more of them all.

Casey is trying to figure out what is wrong with her.  She doesn't understand why relationships don't work for her. She has been told she is too controlling.  She wants to learn to not be so demanding and controlling.  So who better to ask than your best guy friend.  He can help you.  But can they keep their feelings straight?  Or will feelings become crossed and friendships lost?

Nate has always been attracted to Casey, but he never did anything about it because he valued their friendship more.  He also has a thing with commitment after his ex broke him.  He is content with his life and happy to have Casey any way he can.  He doesn't know if he can help Casey, but he thinks it is a great way for him to finally get her out of his system without her knowing that he has been lusting after her for years.  But can he keep his feelings straight?  Or will he end up falling for her and pushing her away because he doesn't do love.

This was a great love story.  I love how it was done.  It didn't have all the unnecessary drama that some stories have.  I really can't wait to read about Brent and his girl next.

Message from Lauren

I'm so thrilled that the Seductive Nights erotic romance series is continuing with a new installment starring a new couple! This series has been such a joy to write since it started as a fan-driven series, with Julia and Clay, and then Jack and Michelle, and now this this new novel is about Nate and Casey. Readers requested that I write their story next, so I did! FORBIDDEN NIGHTS can be read without having read the earlier books. (Though, why wouldn't you want to meet the other couples?!) I can't wait to introduce readers to Nate Harper and Casey Sullivan. They’re a dynamic duo and many early readers are saying this is their favorite story yet! Nate knows exactly who, and what he wants, and is thrilled when the opportunity he’s dreamed about for years presents herself to him. Expect many steamy encounters between these two!

Debt. Guilt. Death. Finn Walker has spent years carrying the weight of his regret and guilt with him wherever he went. When he found his home with the Nordic Lords Motorcycle Club, he quickly learned their outlaw lifestyle allowed him to banish his guilt with his fists and guns and no one would stop him. It was freeing, and now, he fits right in. Friends with Ryker Knight for years, Meg McNeery turns to the one place she knows is safe when she needs safety more than her next paycheck. On the run from a man determined to receive payment for a debt he believes Meg owes, she knows the Nordic Lords Clubhouse in Minnesota is the only place where she and her five-year-old son, Brayden, will be safe. What Meg doesn’t expect is her instant, magnetic attraction to Finn. And when her running ends with the three of them trapped together…it not only tests Meg’s physical self-control, but it also causes Finn to face his demons. Finn has sworn he’d never get involved with another woman again, much less a woman with a child, but he can’t stop thinking about Meg, the blue-eyed angel who silences his nightmares. When Finn’s past fears and present threats collide…will he finally be able to save the woman who needs him? Or will Meg end up like his ex, Piper?
Buried six feet under.

4 Stars

This book was suppose to be my favorite. I have loved Finn since we met him in book one, but there was just something lacking in this book.  I can't say what because I don't really know.  It didn't have that magic that makes you want to devour the book in one sitting.

Meg is on the run.  Ryker's the only one she knows who can help her, but he's also going to be angry she's hid this secret from him for years.  She is finally willing to ask for help, but she doesn't exactly know what to expect from bikers.  Will she feel safe around them?  Can she get over the fact that some of the stuff they do is illegal?  What will she do when she falls for Finn, the guy Ryker has guarding her?

Finn is trying to run from his past.  He doesn't like to talk about his past and no one knows about it and that's how he wants to keep it.  But when Meg walks into his life he knows that keeping away from her is going to be hard.  He doesn't deserve anyone so how can he get Meg out of his system without breaking her.  Can he finally come to terms with the past and let someone in?  Or will he sabotage a good thing with Meg?

This is the final book in the Nordic Lords series :(  I am sad to see the end of all these characters.  This was a really fun series to read and I can't to see what Stacey Lynn has for us next!!

4 Stars

This book was a dark read.  It was very well written and I am happy that I decided to read it.

Allyn is living as a recluse.  She never leaves her house.  She struggles with moving on since she was taken and left for dead.  It's been three years and she isn't getting better.  She hears about Dr. Shriver on the news when she sees three girls that he helped.  She knows she needs him if she's going to finally live again.  Can he help her?

Dr. Dominic Shriver knows instantly that he wants to help Allyn.  He sees something special in her.  He knows it will be a lot of work to get her feeling comfortable.  Can he help her?  Will lines be crossed?

This is a tragic story.  Allyn survives through a lot in her short life.  She wants to live her life again and she took the first step, but can she actually live her life.  I loved how this book ended it gave you the closure you need!!!

~ Author Bio ~

**Bound by custom or unique by choice.**

There's something about the written word that's pure magic.

Possibly it's the fact that there are 26 letters in the English alphabet, and they can create something so beautiful or so empowering that they're able to change our lives.

How important is it that we break suit and stretch our minds?

I like to think of myself as 'unique'. My stories aren't for everyone, and sometimes I may push what you believe to be 'normal'.

Normal is subjective.

I prefer to be known as a person who's never been 'bound by custom' but is 'unique by choice'.

Until next time
