5 Stars

What a great conclusion to this series!!  I really enjoyed all the mystery in this series.  The back and forth of who was innocent and who was guilty.

Kate is determined to figure out the mystery message that Miles told her.  She knows that he was trying to tell her something, but can she figure it out?  She needs to know who killed Alyssa and she doesn't want the wrong person charged.  Her mission is to find the killer.  Will she do it before she becomes the next victim?

Jaxon is depressed that he is losing Kate.  He knows that his wife was just murdered, but they hadn't been together for a long time.  He needs Kate to balance him.  He also needs to get away from everyone who still thinks he murdered Alyssa.  But now he doesn't want to leave Kate and risk losing her to his best friend Nick.  What will he do?  Leave or stay?

You must read book one, two and three before this one.  It is a series and each book starts where the last one ended.  This is a great series of mystery and it will keep you guessing.

Blog Tour: Five Ways to Fall by KA Tucker

~ Synopsis ~

Sometimes you can’t change—and sometimes you just don’t want to. Discover Ben’s side of the story in this fourth novel by the beloved, top-selling indie author of Ten Tiny Breaths,One Tiny Lie, and Four Seconds to Lose.

Purple-haired, sharp-tongued Reese MacKay knows all about making the wrong choice; she’s made plenty of them in her twenty-odd-years. So when her impulsive, short-lived marriage ends in heartbreak, she decides it’s time for a change. She moves to Miami with the intention of hitting reset on her irresponsible life, and she does quite well…aside from an epically humiliating one-night stand in Cancun with a hot blond bouncer named Ben. Thank God she can get on a plane and leave that mistake behind her.

Football scholarship and frat parties with hot chicks? Part of charmer Ben Morris’s plan. Blown knee that kills any hope of a professional football career? So not part of the plan. Luckily Ben has brains to go with his knockout looks and magnetism. After three long years of balancing law school with his job as a bouncer at Penny’s Palace, he’s ready to lead a more mature life—until his first day of work, when he finds himself in the office of that crazy, hot chick he met in Cancun. The one he hasn’t stopped thinking about.

If Ben truly were a smart guy, he’d stay clear of Reese. She’s the boss’s stepdaughter and it’s been made very clear that office romances are grounds for dismissal. Plus, rumor has it she’s trouble. The only problem is, he likes trouble, especially when it’s so good-looking…

5 Stars by Guest Reviewer Cybill

I absolutely fell in love with Reese! She is a feisty, sarcastic no nonsense kind of woman. Not many men can handle this kind of woman, but the challenge is just what Ben needs.

Reese MacKay has been searching for love in some form her whole life. Left at 5 years old in a truck stop by her dad and having a mother that should have never had a child has left her heart empty. She married Jared thinking he was the love of her life until she found him in their apartment in the shower with his ex girlfriend Caroline. After a rampage with red paint she found herself needing legal representation. The one father figure she had was Jack, the husband her mother threw away. He offers her a second chance, or with Reese it would be the tenth chance. Become a paralegal and come work in his law office in Miami. One last hurrah in Cancun she wants to exorcise the demons with a one night stand, enter Ben Morris.

Ben Morris is currently a bouncer in a strip club, former football hopeful until a blown knee ruins his chances for anything professional. Celebrating graduating law school in Cancun. He is strangely drawn to the hot girl with purple hair. It's his last night and last fling. Mr. Jose Cuervo has different plans, when Reese drinks way to much and succumbs to every drunk woman's nightmare.

What are the chances these two would cross paths again? Ben is friend's with Jack's son Mason and has just started a new career with Jack's law firm. The same law firm Reese is a paralegal for.

Neither of Reese or Ben are interested in a committed relationship and office policy state "no dating" but friends with benefits is surely a possibility!

Jared comes back into the picture and let me tell you this kind is a real piece of crap. He want Reese back but after spending time with Ben and his family Reese is ready for something better. Between Jared and silicone enhanced strippers will these two ever see that they are perfect for each other?

Funny, witty, sarcastic and wonderful. This is a great read!

And don’t forget the rest of the Ten Tiny Breaths Series…

~ Excerpt ~

Matt…

Emily always had a way of making me see the answer to my problems. While growing up, she was always there to lend an ear. Listening without judgment to every single word. I don’t know how many times I depended on her for an answer, and no matter how many times I asked, she always responded.

The day she died, it felt as if she took a part of my soul with her, and I had let her. She deserved it more than I did. It wasn’t until the day Abigail walked into my life that I knew that part of my soul had returned. It’s as if Emily was giving it back to me, knowing I desperately needed it.

Abigail was the light at the end of a darkened tunnel that I was trapped inside of. I had refused to keep walking forward when Emily died, but Abigail finally forced me to take the steps to awaken her. She helped me find the light within myself.

Dropping down to the ground, my knees hit the earth, sending a jolting pain up my legs. I stare down at the grave marker, realizing it’s the first time I’ve laid eyes on it. The elegance of the black marble represents the extravagant taste of her husband’s family. I had blown off their countless phone calls when they had contacted me to help choose the marker. I didn’t care. It would have made me face the reality that she was never coming back. The agonizing disbelief of seeing it brings tears to my eyes.

I sit there with the silence surrounding me as I allow the tears to fall and the agony takes over me. I miss her so fucking much. I keep wishing that she were still here with me. Just a phone call away like she was before. I’m selfish, I know, but I hate the fact that she’s no longer by my side when I want her to be.

After what seems like hours of sitting there crying alongside her, I somehow find the courage to speak. “I fucked up, Em,” I say crying at her grave. “And I don’t think she’s ever going to forgive me. You always told me that me fucking around was going to come back and bite me in the ass and you were right.” The words come out as a whisper as I continue to speak. “I can’t stand the thought of losing her, as I did you,” I cry down to her, expecting an answer, but all I receive is silence.

Indiscretion: Volume One

F*ck and chuck. Pump and dump. Hit it and quit it. One night stand. Didn’t matter how I branded it—that’s all she had wanted it to be. That much was clear when she left me with my pants down and my dick still out.

What she hadn’t counted on was fate intervening and our worlds colliding—again.

The day I showed back up in the life of Chloe Griffins, I knew I had to have her again. My body was hungry for another taste. Like an addict, I’d been craving another hit for months, and there she was—flesh and bone, tits and ass.

The fact that she worked for the competition should’ve been reason enough for me to leave her alone. I had a job to do that summer and f*cking Chloe wasn’t part of it. But I was like a man possessed.

I’d do whatever it took to have her again.

~ Excerpt ~

“Enough talk about the heavy stuff. Let’s get back to finding a guy for me to flirt with tonight.” “I thought we’d already found one.” She nodded mischievously toward the insanely hot guy with the blue eyes. “Yeah, right,” I scoffed. “A little out of my league, I think.” “Oh please,” Jackie frowned. “For all we know, he could be covered in back hair and have a small dick.” I burst out laughing and gave my friend a light smack across the arm. It took me a minute to catch my breath. “You’re horrible,” I grinned at her. “Do you know how long it’s been since I flirted with someone? Maybe I should start with more of an average Joe.” I was in the mood for some innocent fun tonight. Being away from home and all the memories and responsibilities it held seemed to have had that affect. Even so, I had a feeling any conversation with the blue-eyed stranger had the potential to turn into something not entirely innocent. “Alright then.” Jackie leaned in to give me a hug as the rest of the bridal party returned from the bar and placed down a variety of drinks and . In the spirit of the evening, I picked up a shot of God-knows-what neon concoction and held it in the air. The other girls followed suit. Smiling at my friend, I shoved down the lump of nostalgia. “I’d like to propose a toast to Jackie and her upcoming nuptials. May she and Rob have a long and happy life together, full of nothing but love, trust, joy...and because it’s Jackie, a whole lot of mind-blowing sex.” All the girls cheered and clinked the assortment of drinks and shots before tossing them back. Jackie beamed. Whether a result of alcohol, love, or the fact that I was looking to have a little fun, I couldn’t be sure. I hoped it wasn’t the latter or my friend would end up disappointed. Despite what I’d said, I had no intention of pursuing anything beyond a mild flirtation with anyone—blue-eyedstranger included.

“Azurdee? Honey, we have a slight problem and need you right away!”

Ari yelled from the front porch.

I gave Paul a weak smile and said, “I have to run but maybe I’ll talk to you soon.” I quickly turned and headed toward Ari, who was standing there giving me a shit-eating grin.

Ari was one of Jessie’s closest friends here in Mason, along with Ellie, Heather, and Amanda. They were all friends but acted more like sisters. I stopped right in front of her and asked, “How did you know I needed rescuing?”

She gave me a Cheshire cat grin and said, “Please, bitch, I saw the way you and Lark were dancing earlier. Too bad your date didn’t notice the hotness between the two of you on the dance floor. I knew you were trying to ditch the date and I was pretty sure when I saw him roll down that window he was asking if you would like to meet for coffee sometime?”

I chuckled and said, “It was dinner.”

Ari rolled her eyes and said, “Stupid bastard must have been the only one to not see you and Lark practically humping on the dance floor.”

“Oh my God, Ari! It wasn’t that bad…was it?”

She gave me an evil smile and said, “Let’s just say I’m wishing I would have started a bet among the girls because I have a feeling someone is going to be coming over to the…” Ari looked around and then looked back at me and whispered, “My-cherry-was-popped side.”

My mouth dropped open and I stood there frozen. “I just don’t even know what to say to that, Ari.”

“I get that a lot. Okay, just make sure the bastard gives you an orgasm before he sticks his…”

I held up my hands and said, “Please stop! Really, I think I’m going to be okay without your…tips.”

Ari laughed and said, “Okay, seriously though, it does help you relax.

Are you on the pill? Please tell me you are at least on the pill.”

My heart started pounding and my hands started sweating. “Um…yeah, since college. Just to be safe. I dated a guy in college for a while and thought he might be the one but turns out he was far from the one.”

Ari’s mouth dropped open. “You haven’t had a boyfriend since college?

My God Azurdee, do you just not like men?”

I laughed and pushed her back some. “Yes, bitch, I like men. I just haven’t met a guy who did it for me. One that made me want to give myself
completely to him until…”

Ari wiggled her eyebrows up and down and said, “Mysterious and
handsome Lark Williams has though, hasn’t he?”

I let out a sigh and walked over to the porch swing and sat down.

“Oh my God, Ari. I don’t know what it is, but when I’m around him my body just goes into overdrive and I have to do everything in my power to keep from jumping him. It’s been like this from the beginning. I’ve dreamt about him, I’ve thought about him while driving, working, out onother dates. I cannot get him out of my head. He is my weakness.”

Ari sat down and gave me a weak smile. “Is it just a sexual thing? I mean…do you have other feelings for him?”

I nodded my head. “No, it’s not just sexual. I mean, a big part of it is of course, and the fact that I pretty much threw myself at him tonight has my stomach dropping. But there’s more to it. When he enters a room, I swear I have to take a deep breath. He brushes by me or touches me in the slightest way and my stomach flips around like I’m on a damn thrill ride. His eyes…oh my God. I get totally lost in them. I swear—if he had told me to strip down and let him make love to me on the dance floor, I would have done it.”

I knock on Mer’s apartment door and shift back and forth on my feet. I haven’t been this nervous since the very first time I picked her up for a date early in our Junior year. I’ve come a long way since then. Suddenly the door is wrenched open and Jax is standing there with a wide smile. “Hey,” he says. “Hi. I’m here to pick up Meredith.” “Mr. Delicious is here for your date, tootsie roll!” Jax yells. “I’m right here, dork,” Meredith says as she slips under his arm out into the hallway. “Ignore him. He has horrible manners.” “Have fun,” Jax continues, leaning on the doorjamb with his arms crossed and watching us walk to the elevator. I brace my hand on the small of her back and feel the electricity travel up my arm and down to my groin. After all this time, the chemistry is still here. “You have her home at a decent time, now. I’ll leave the light on.” “Shut up, Jax,” Mer says with a laugh. “Use condoms!” He calls just as the elevator arrives. “Oh my God! Shut the hell up, Jax!” He laughs as the doors close and I can only smile in delight down at her. Her cheeks are pink with embarrassment. Her hair is pulled up in one of her signature messy buns and she’s in jeans and a blue sweater the same color as her eyes. Jesus, she’s fucking gorgeous. “You look amazing,” I say and rub a large circle over her slender back. “So do you,” she murmurs and looks up and down at my plain black T-shirt and jeans. I threw a plaid button down over the T, but her eyes travel to my arms anyway. She always did have a thing for my arms. “Thanks for coming out with me tonight.” “Thanks for inviting me,” she replies with a grin. “Where are we going?” “You’ll see.”

OMG, OMG, OMG I don't believe how amazing this book is.  It is not for the faint of heart.  This book is dark and twisted.  It had me cringing in places and praying that Brayleigh would make it out alive.

Blake is trying to reclaim her life. There isn't anything she can do. She hides herself away because of all the nightmares and triggers that cause her to freak out.  She is surprised she can feel any sort of attraction to a male again.  But once she meets Madden she can't get away. He wants her and he is willing to do whatever he can to get to know her.  Is she strong enough to open herself up again?  Or will that be the worst mistake of her new life?

This book will leave you salivating for me.  You won't want to put this book down and you definitely are going to be hanging on the edge of your seat for Fall to bring you book two.

~ Excerpt ~

Meet Bryleigh Carter…

Picking me up off the bed, Ish threw me over his shoulder a
nd marched out of the hotel room, into the pitch-black night. Scared speechless, I didn’t make a peep as he strode into the small motel office and dropped me on the floor. The male front desk attendant that had rented me the room had eyes as big as saucers, obviously fearful of Ish and the scene unfolding in front of him.

“Did you give her a room to stay in?” he demanded.

The older man nodded, taking a small step backwards.

“Don’t you fucking move, Gramps, and answer me when I ask you a goddamn question.”

“Y-yes, I gave her a room,” he admitted in a cracked voice.

“Did she pay you with money, or did she fuck you for it?”

“She paid me with money, sir. I don’t run that kind of business.” The man looked down at me huddled in a corner on the floor, and then back up at Ish. “She never even offered that kind of thing.”

Ish stomped around to the back of the counter and held his hand out, palm up. “She wants a refund. She’s not staying here tonight.”

Trembling, the man opened the cash register and pulled out some cash, setting it in Ish’s hand. As he did, Ish grabbed hold of his wrist and twisted it behind his back.

“Please…please don’t hurt me,” the man begged. “I didn’t know I was doing anything wrong.”

“No, you probably didn’t, but she did,” Ish spat, his fiery eyes darting over to me. “Princesa, did you know you were doing something wrong?”

The growing sob that had built in the back of my throat escaped as I nodded and said, “Yes, I did.”

“Well, someone needs to be punished for your bad behavior to remind you not to do something like this again.”

“Punish me, Ish,” I cried. “That poor man has nothing to do with this. Please, let him go.”

He glanced over at the man he held in a tight hold, and then back at me before releasing an evil laugh that echoed loudly throughout the small room. “Sorry, Princesa, but I need you to be pretty for our upcoming wedding.” Then, without warning, he pulled a long-bladed knife from the leg of his pants and chopped the man’s hand clear off in one swing. I’m not sure who screamed louder, me or the man, but within seconds, it was only my high-pitched voice shrieking, because Ish took the knife and slit the man’s throat, killing him instantaneously. Dropping the bloody body, he stalked towards me, bent down to my level, and clamped his hand on top of my mouth.

“Quiet now, Bryleigh, before you alert anyone else and I do the same thing to them. You don’t want to be the reason anyone else dies tonight, do you?” he whispered in my ear.

Immediately, I stop screaming, knowing damn well he would do exactly what he promised. “Now, that’s my good Princesa,” he said, stroking my hair. “We should get out of here. I’m going to carry you to the car, and I expect you to be well-behaved.”

Lifting me from the dirty tile floor, he carried me like a baby out to his car and placed me on the passenger seat. Petrified of what was going to happen next, I sat as still as a statue as he got into the car and drove north, back towards Chicago. He said nothing the entire drive home, but once we were both inside the apartment, he threw me on the bed and stripped me naked. Turning me over so that I was face-down on the mattress, he yanked forcefully on my hips, raising them in the air. He held tightly onto my hipbones as he viciously thrust himself into my virgin ass—no warning…no lube…nothing. I shouted out at the intense pain, and tears immediately began to stream down my face, but he didn’t stop thrusting until he was buried completely inside of me.

Leaning over, with his chest pressed to my back, he said in low, spine-chilling voice, “Anytime you fuck up, Princesa, someone will pay the price, and I will make you watch as I administer the punishment. You need to see the consequences of your actions, so don’t fuck up again if you don’t want any more blood on your conscience.”

He then fiercely fucked me until he came deep inside my asshole. He pulled out, not saying another word, then showered and left. I cried until I couldn’t see, and passed out with exhaustion.

That was the only time I ever tried to run away, but sadly, not the only bloodstains on my hands. It was only the beginning.
