Blog Tour and Giveaway: The Beautiful Surrender by Priscilla West

~ Synopsis ~

What gives you a thrill Kristen?”

The minute I saw Vincent Sorenson, I knew he was trouble. Billionaire. Bad boy. And dangerously sexy. He was everything I craved, and nothing I needed.

Unfortunately, I couldn’t just avoid him. The higher ups at my company decided they needed his business, and I was on the team to bring him in. Vincent Sorenson didn’t seem as interested in business as he was in me, but I knew that was a door better left unopened. If I got involved with him, it would only unearth the pain I spent years trying to bury.

I thought I had it under control, but I seriously underestimated Vincent’s seductive charm and silver-tongue. I would soon find out how delicious it would feel to let myself fall into this forbidden surrender.

Forbidden Surrender was a quick, sexy read for me. I loooooved Vincent Sorenson as the story’s leading man. Billionaire surfer with nipple piercings? Yes, please! Vincent was determined, sexy, dirty-talking, and sweet. He checked all my boxes.

In the most recent photo I could find, he was up to his waist in the sea and approaching the shore beaming a heart-stopping smile like some kind of mythical sex god eager to claim his offerings.

When he meets wealth manager Kristen, he knows exactly what he wants and sets his sights on winning her over. I have to say, I really liked Kristen. She was a successful Harvard grad who, although immediately attracted to Vincent, didn’t instantly fall at his feet and give in to his advances. She values her job and independence and makes the man work for it. Kristen also has a traumatic past she has struggled to put behind her and doesn’t want to muddy the waters by introducing a new man into her life.

You have no idea how demanding I can be.”

The majority of Forbidden Surrender focuses on Vincent’s pursuit of Kristen and her attempt to keep their relationship professional. The sexual tension is HIGH and when they finally do come together, the scenes are hot, hot, hot. It’s a brief book and I enjoyed it for the escapism. It does end on a mild cliffhanger, and I’m anxious to get my hands on the next installment in the series!

I knew that giving in to Vincent Sorenson was a risk, but it was one I was willing to take. I had hidden my heart for so long and for the first time in a long time, Vincent was close to breaking down the walls.

When a trip to Vincent's exclusive private island revealed the real Vincent underneath the layers of suave nonchalance, I thought we were close to the start of something special.

Just when things were looking up for us, I would discover the one secret that Vincent never intended for me to find.

I eagerly jumped into the second installment of the Surrender series, Secret Surrender. Kristen has finally decided to give Vincent a chance and see where things go between them. Lucky girl! Vincent is super sexy and romantic, as well as thoughtful and protective. And, as always, ridiculously hot. Can I just say, cyber sex?!

The conclusion to the Surrender Series by Priscilla West.

No one is who they seem to be.

I let Vincent into my heart because he seemed so different from everyone in my conservative world of wealth management. I thought we shared something special, but Vincent has been playing me this entire time.

As our relationship reaches a crisis point, a man from my past returns looking for a second chance. Is my ex really looking for redemption or is his goal something more sinister?

I try my best to hold it all together, until I discover a revelation that will change everything.

The final installment in the Surrender Series, Beautiful Surrender, is a little different from the other two books in that it jumps back and forth in time. I really liked this aspect of it because it fully fleshed out both Kristen and Vincent for me and gave me a better perspective of what each of them had been through. In Beautiful Surrender, Kristen tries to come to terms with a huge secret Vincent has kept from her and must decide whether she can forgive him and more forward with their relationship.

Sounds like he’s a knight with shining abs.”

Vincent has fallen hard for Kristen and really wants to make things work. Although he is often referred to as a “bad boy”, I found Vincent to be the exact opposite. He’s a risk-taker when it comes to his business and extreme sports, but when it comes to Kristen and his family (especially his sister and adorable nephew Brady), Vincent wears his heart on his sleeve.

But if we make it through this together, we’ll be stronger. If we make it through this alone, we’ll just be better at being alone.”

Just as Kristen decides that maybe Vincent is worth the risk to her heart, something huge happens and she finds herself in the position of keeping something from Vincent. As she struggles with the situation, her unstable ex-boyfriend shows up and all hell breaks loose. I’m hesitant to say anymore because I don’t want to give any of the storyline away. Trust me, you’ll want to read for yourself to find out what happens!

Beautiful Surrender is full of drama and angst and I found myself on the edge of my seat, not sure where the story was going to end up. I really enjoyed this series and the final installment wrapped it up nicely. The epilogue was an added bonus and I shut off my Kindle with a smile on my face. Like the other two Surrender books, this one is a quick read and great for when you have an afternoon to yourself. I would highly recommend giving this series a try!

 4 Star Review by Jessica

The heart of The Best Laid Plans focuses on the ramifications of childhood bullying on our adults selves, both for the victims and the bullies. If you have ever been bullied at any time in your life, you know that those insecurities plant themselves somewhere deep inside of you. As adults, though we may have “gotten over” the trauma our younger selves endured, you never truly forget the shame and fear of being taunted. So it is for the main characters in The Best Laid Plans.
Jayne Griffin is a gorgeous, financially stable businesswoman. Now. That wasn’t always the case. She spent her middle school and high school years being ostracized and taunted for not mindlessly conforming to the whims of the in-crowd. She has changed the spelling of her name and worked hard to overcome her insecurities, but those self-doubts are always lingering just below the surface.
Malcolm Black is a smoking hot, talented musician who has women falling at his feet at every turn. Now. After being physically brutalized by high school bullies, he was forced to withdraw from school and finish high school through correspondence. Malcolm has changed his name, moved away, and built himself up through martial arts so he will never again be a victim. He still bears the physical and emotional scars from the hands of his bullies though, and he has never forgotten how that abuse was inadvertently triggered by his childhood crush, Jane.
When Malcolm spots Jane in the audience at one of his gigs and realizes she doesn’t recognize him, he hatches a plan to make her fall in love with him and then break her heart. What better way to exact revenge on the girl who more or less instigated his descent into hell? I’ll admit, I initially cringed when Malcolm began formulating his plan for revenge. I mean, this man is twenty eight years old and seemingly very successful-seeking revenge on something that happened in childhood just seemed immature. As the author revealed more about what Malcolm endured as a teenager however, I truly sympathized with him and could understand how that pain could become a part of who Malcolm truly was as a person.
Right from the start, Malcolm and Jayne had amazing chemistry and I was rooting for them from the beginning. Their scenes in the bedroom (and bathroom, balcony, etc.) were off the charts hot and certainly had me fanning myself! They also seemed to “get” each other and had a sweet rapport. I read eagerly to discover if a relationship based on a deception could become something real and lasting. The scenes at their ten year reunion were my favorite and while I don’t want to give anything away, a great deal of issues were resolved for several characters. The editing was flawless and the author gave her readers two sympathetic, likeable characters. The issue of bullying was not sugarcoated or downplayed and while those particular scenes were difficult to read, they really enhanced the reader’s understanding of both Malcolm and Jane. I really enjoyed The Best Laid Plans and strongly urge you to add it to your TBR list!

Tamara Mataya is currently a librarian; she lurked there for so long recommending books to patrons and shushing people, that she suspects they only hired her so it would be less creepy. Now she’s armed with a name tag, and a thin veneer of credibility. She’s also a musician with synaesthesia – which isn't an issue until someone plays a wrong note, which makes her want to squirm inside out. It makes for a good live show.

4 Star Review by Heather

This book is a good fast read.  It starts off a little on the slow side, but picks up and then you won't want to put it down.

Kate is trying to overcome the heartache of her long time boyfriend breaking up with her so he could be single for his first year away at college.  She ignores her ex, Kyle when he comes home the summer after his freshman year. She doesn't want to want him anymore.  So she leaves for her freshman year single and ready to live again.  She decides she wants to let loose and get to know guys.  Not sleep with them, but date and get to know them.  She never thought she would have so many guys fighting for her attention.  She doesn't want to lead anyone on so she lets them know she isn't looking for more then friendship at this time. Though the first time she sees Reed "blue eyes" Harper so knows he can make her want something serious.  Can she get over Kyle?  Will she give playboy Reed a chance?

Kyle is regretting ever letting Kate go.  He knows it was a mistake.  He wants Kate more than the sluts at school.  Though Kate ignores him he is determined to make her listen to him. He has a way of making Kate do what he wants.  Will he finally show his true colors and lose Kate? Or will he win her back?

Reed "Blue Eyes" Harper..... Oh where to start with this sexy man.  He is panty melting hot and I wish I was Kate.  He doesn't do relationships, he just messes around with girls.  He knows the instant he spots Kate across the room that he wants her legs wrapped around him. He doesn't really pursue her because two of his roommates were and he figured if she saw him she would pursue him.  He tries everything to stay away, but once he realizes he has a chance he goes in for the kill.  Will Kate give him a chance? Or is she too wrapped up in her ex?

This book has hot guys, sex and drama.  What more do we need?  Once you get past some of the background of the characters this book picks up.  You will be happy this book is a cliffy.  That means we get more of Sexy "Blue Eyes"!!!  I couldn't give this book a 5 Star because it didn't hold my attention at the beginning.  I really needed a little more out of the beginning.

Blog Tour and Giveaway: This Much is True by Katherine Owen

~ Synopsis ~

This Much Is True

Fate brings them together

Fame & lies keep them apart

One truth remains…

She’s become the Paly High girl with the most tragic story…

At 17, Tally Landon just wants to graduate and leave for New York to pursue ballet. Her best friend Marla convinces her to attend one last party—a college party—where she can be among strangers and evade the whisperings about the heartbreaking loss of her twin that follows her everywhere she goes. She meets Lincoln Presley, Stanford’s famous baseball wonder and has a little fun at his expense—when she lies about her age and who she really is—intent on being someone else for the night and escaping her tragic story.

His only focus is baseball, but he can’t forget the girl he saved on Valentine’s Day…

At 22, Lincoln Presley’s star is on the rise—about to finish at Stanford and expected to be taken early in Major League Baseball’s upcoming draft—his cousin’s party serves as a welcome distraction. But then, he sees the girl from Valentine’s Day that he saved from that horrific car accident and can’t quite hide his disappointment when she appears to look right through him and not remember him at all. He vows to learn her name at least before he leaves. What’s the harm in getting to know this girl? What’s the worst that can happen?

Fate soon tests these star-crossed lovers in all kinds of ways...

And yet, despite the lies being told to protect the other, and the trappings of fame that continually separate them, and in lieu of the deception by those they’ve come to trust the most; one truth remains.

This much is true.

3.5 Star Review by Annie

This book is a story of love, loss and rebuilding oneself.

Tally Landon loses everything at once, after a tragic accident one night. The only thing that remains a constant is ballet. No matter what happens in life it will always be there. She has always been the outspoken driven no bullshit type of person. Not ready to fall in love, that is until Elvis enters her life and is constantly trying to save her. How can someone save her, when she doesn’t want to be saved?

Lincoln “Elvis” Presley has his life planned out. He will make it to the major leagues, just like his father. The only problem is just when he thinks he has everything planned out Tally make a grand entrance. Telling him lie after lie, about everything. After one hot passionate night, he realizes he has to let her go.  The world and baseball would never accept their relationship. So he lets her go. The only problem is he let her go physically, but emotionally and mentally she still has him obsessing over her.

This book is a long read, when I say long I mean at least 10 hours! It had a bit of a drag and a lot of repeats, but just as you’re about to give up it picks up, and then it drags down again. The cycle repeats itself over again until the last page. I give this book 3.5 stars!
