Blog Tour: Finding Laila by T.K. Rapp

~ Synopsis ~

Joey, Cole, Haden and Braxton have been a constant in my life since I was five, and I have loved being one of the guys.
I’ve been cheerleader.
I’ve been study partner.
I’ve been listener.
When we’re young, we don’t realize the profound impact certain people will have on our lives. I had no idea twelve years ago I’d meet four boys who would turn out to be my best friends, my soul mates - my barmy.
Now school is almost done, our last summer together is drawing closer, and I’m trying to hold on to what we have while I still can. After this we’ll have to say goodbye to each other, as our choices will take our lives in different directions. But I don't know if our friendship can survive once secrets and surprises begin revealing themselves to us at every turn.
When it’s all said and done, will our friendships remain unbreakable? Or will our once strong bond prove to be weaker than we anticipated?
Letting go is harder than I thought, but some changes are necessary.
And finding Laila…finding myself…may be the greatest journey of all.

5 Stars by Heather

Omg this book was so amazing.  It took me on an emotional roller coaster ride.  I was happy, sad and sobbing at different parts of this book.  I have never felt such a connection to characters as I did these five.  I honestly felt like they were my best friends.  I am really hoping we get more of these amazing characters because I am not ready to say goodbye to them!

Throughout this book you learn about Laila and how she deals with a lot of crap through high school for being best friends with four boys.  She is strong, independent and very protective of the boys.  She loves fierce and would do anything to take pain and hurt away from the guys.  She tries to be strong knowing that once they graduate that things will change for them all.  They all want to go to different colleges.  Can all the changes keep them close?  Will their friendships suffer from the distance?

This book is an absolute must read!!! One of the best books I have ever read.  The way T.K. has you connecting with these characters is unbelievable.  I did not want to put this book down once I started and now I am sad that it's over.  This book could have been three times longer and I still don't think it would have been enough.  I seriously want to know every detail of all of their lives.  I feel like I have lost my best friends.  This book has definitely left a lasting effect on me!!!

5 Stars by Margaret

First I gotta say this book was totally different from what I was expecting. I haven't read any of TK Rapp's work before but this book may have just changed that. Her writing definitely makes you feel everything the characters are going through and you feel like you are right there with them experiencing everything as they are.

Laila, Braxton, Haden, Cole and Joey are all friends and have been from a very early age when Laila's family moved and have had each other's back ever since. Laila's relationship with each one is different as is their bond to each other. As I was reading this book it took me back to my high school days and stirred up my own memories I had with my own friends.

Laila, Haden and Braxton I feel went through the most. They are going through real life issues that kids today are having to struggle with. Laila finds out something on her 18th birthday and goes through a lot with trying to figure out how to come to terms with it. Haden is dealing with issues since his dad died and Brax has his own struggle to deal with. As the 3 of them struggle to deal with those issues it’s the 5 of them together helping each other through everything.

This book had me laughing and then crying like a baby. The ending almost killed me (Be Warned--have tissues nearby) and I hope there are more books to come with these characters. I loved this book and by far the best YA book I have read. Looking forward to more work from this author!

~ Excerpt ~

“I guess we know the flavor of the week,” a female voice says from behind me, causing several others with her to laugh.
I know they’re talking about me. They’re always talking about me. It’s been this way since I was in seventh grade, but I’ve made it my mission to ignore it.
“She certainly gets around,” another voice chimes in.
Cole is sitting to my left, Haden to my right and both guys are staring at the field, but neither is paying attention to the game. I watch out of my peripheral as Haden’s forearm muscles tense and relax while Cole bites his lip. They are intently focused on the words being thrown at me, but keep quiet for the time being.
“She must be good because they all stick around,” a guy’s voice states in salacious tone that makes me nauseous.
I don’t wait for another barb to be hurled my way, even though I know it’s coming. I throw my arm around Haden and whisper something in his ear before kissing his cheek then turning to do the same to Cole. I lean forward to see Joey, who is next to Cole and give him a wink, “I’ll get you later, Baby.”
He shakes his head and laughs, “Why must you stir the pot?”
Haden smiles - proud of my display - and it pushes me on.
I turn to look at the three classmates who have stopped chattering long enough to watch my little show, jaws hanging open. I shrug my shoulders, and answer Joey, “I’m just giving them what they want.”
One of the girls, Kasey, looks at me and raises a brow, “And what about Braxton?”
I glance over to Cole who’s listening to everything, but is still watching the game. He smirks, as if he knows what’s coming and a smile of my own begins to break.
They are gawking at me when I turn and wet my lips before winking at the girls.
“If he wins, we all win,” I say huskily.
“Touchdown!” The announcer yells and the crowd jumps to their feet to celebrate. All but the three jerks behind me.

Red Dawn meets LOST in this action-adventure/paranormal romance from Amazon bestselling author Leigh Talbert Moore.

~ Review for Captive ~
4.5 Stars

This book is really interesting.  In a way it makes me think of Hunger Games, but it is different.

Prentiss is walking to work when she sees a man on the side of the road with a body laying beside him.   The next thing she knows is her world goes black.  Every time she wakes up they make her world go black again. Finally she wakes up with several others.  She has no idea what is going on. She recognizes a few people and the person she needs the most is nowhere around.  Can she help save the people and get them out?  Or will she get scared away from watching someone who was rebelling get killed?

Cannot wait to read book two in this six book serial.  Cannot wait to figure out what is happening.  Also will Jackson come and help rescue Prentiss?  Or is he captured also?

~ Review for Learning to Spy ~
4.5 Stars

OMG this book is amazing.  I can't get enough of Prentiss.  I have so many questions I need answered.

Prentiss is finally in a position to get some answers.  Or so she hopes.  She is still trying to find a way to save her friends and brother.  The people she expects to help her aren't willing to.  She makes some friends with the least likely people, but can they help her.  Finally she thinks she can get answers from Gallarin, the brother of the head person who is in charge. They get stuck working the barn together.  But tragedy strikes before she gets any answers.  Will she get them?  Or will she lose her chance?

This is a great second book and I cannot wait to read book three.  I need to know what is going on.  Is Jackson still alive?  Will Prentiss do anything to save herself and her friends?  Will she fall for Gallatin?

~ Review for Harvest Moon ~
5 Stars

Things are really heating up in this book. I cannot wait to find out some answers. I keep waiting for them to be answered, but I know that we will find out all the answers we need,

Prentiss is starting to question a lot since she woke up injured.  She is starting to have feelings for Gallatin.  She knows she shouldn't, but it is hard.  She needs to regain her focus and help her and her friends escape.  She is having a hard time with wanting to be with Jackson because a couple friends have hinted that he isn't perfect and he has hurt Prentiss. Can she really find a way to rescue everyone?  Will she fall for Gallatin?   Will that be the biggest mistake of her life?

This is an amazing third book in this serial.  I need more.  I cannot wait to read book 4-6!!  I am hoping I get more answers about Jackson next book since it is titled Jackson.

~ Review for Jackson ~
5 Stars

Omg this series keeps getting better and better.  I need to know what is going to happen next.  My emotions are so conflicted right now.

Prentiss is falling for Gallatin, but knows she shouldn't be.  She has Jackson then guy she's been with for years.  She finally gets answers to questions, but she thinks they are lies.  She wants to believe Gallatin, but it's hard.  After a tragic event she knows she needs to find a way to save everyone.  But she doesn't know how with the band of rogues out there.  Who's side are they one?  Will they help her?

This is an amazing serial and I cannot was to read the rest of the series!  This is a must read series!!

~ Review for Into the Woods ~
5 Stars

This book is amazing.  I don't know how much better this series can get, but with the final book left I'm sure it's going to blow me away.

Prentiss has finally found Jackson and is excited to rescue her friends.  She is also sad because she doesn't want Gallatin hurt.  No one understands what they are doing like she does.  They won't listen to her.  She finally leaves only to run back.  Can she save her friends before Jackson and the rogues invade the camp?  Or will she lose some of the people who mean the most to her?

This is an amazing series and I definitely recommend reading them all.  You will not be able to put these books down.  I cannot wait to read book six. But I almost don't want to because I am not ready to leave these characters!!!

 ~ Review for If I Fly ~
5 Stars

I loved this serial novella set.  I am sad that it is over and I WANT more.  I NEED more!!!!

Prentiss has worked so hard to save her town and friends.  She was attacked by the rogues and had to fight for her life and Gallatin's life.  She knew she needed to save Gallatin. He wasn't a bad person.  But how could she get the others to listen and agree with her?  What will happen in the conclusion to this series?

This is an amazing serial. You must pick up these books and read them.  You don't want to miss this series.  Leigh did an amazing job making me feel emotions in this series.

Behind the Stars
By Leigh Talbert Moore

The guards moved among us, placing dentist-office Dixie cups of what looked like water in front of everyone. A separate guard came to where I sat on the floor, clutching my knees. She lightly took my arm.
“Please return to the table.” Her voice was smooth. “You’ve had a shock. Have some water.”
I wasn’t about to drink anything they gave us. It was Day One all over again, only this time, it was Guyana. We were all being served the Kool-Aid. Next stop, mass graves.
Stupidly, my friends and fellow prisoners had no such qualms. Didn’t anybody watch the History channel? I stared as they all took shaky sips without hesitation.
“Just take a small sip.” The female guard was still with me. “It’ll calm you.”
My throat constricted. My whole body was on revolt. Shaking my head, I didn’t meet her eyes. I only stared at the white cup of water. Braxton was at my side, and he drained his. What the hell made him do that? Did he want to die?
Seconds ticked past and nothing happened. Nobody passed out. Nobody did anything strange—except forget what we’d just witnessed here. Braxton picked up his fork to finish his lunch. They all did. Like one of us had not just been taken out “swiftly and finally.”
Only he had, and I was reeling from the shock.

Prentiss

“Hearing that story makes me wish I could have been the one to protect you,” he said.
“I don’t need your protection,” I sniffed. “I’m little, but I can take care of myself.”
“Everyone needs help. Sometimes.” He reached up and slid the hair back from his face exposing the scar on his cheek.
I didn’t know how to answer that. I still didn’t know how he’d gotten those scars, but more than that, I didn’t know who I wanted protecting me now.
I stepped through the fence. “I guess this is good-night,” I whispered.
“Sleep well, doctor.”
I shook my head and sneaked past the cabins across the dark yard and into the dormitory. Once inside I stood for several minutes with my face pressed against the doorjamb.
Why was this happening? I wasn’t this kind of person. Other girls got their feelings all mixed up over boys, but I didn’t. That question had been settled in my mind years ago, and yet here I was acting like a starry-eyed little twit. I was failing in my job to rescue us. Everyone was counting on me, and here I was useless, fighting this battle with myself. I had to get it together. I had to get myself back on track, for all of us.

This book was good.  I actually enjoyed listening to this book instead of having to read it.

Mitch is an alpha wolf and his twin brother is the alpha of the pack.  Together they run the pack.  Most alphas never take a mate, but his brother has a mate and Mitch longs for his mate.  But when they scent his mate, Mitch is shocked that his mate doesn't know who he is.  You are suppose to know your mate.  Mitch slowly learns about Simon's life and why he doesn't know much about his wolf.  Can Mitch help Simon learn about packs and being a mate?  Or will Simon run like he knows?

This is book one in the Pack series and I can't wait to read more about this pack.  This was a quick story.

Blog Tour and Giveaway: Blindsided by Emma Hart

~ Synopsis ~

From Emma Hart, the New York Times bestselling author of the Game series, comes a brand new series where the game is realer, the tension is tighter, the sex is hotter, and the stakes are the highest of all…

Two people. Two agendas. Two games.

What happens when the out-there It-Boy of football meets the secret It-Girl of fashion?

As the daughter of Hollywood’s sweetheart, Leah Veronica can’t even buy a coffee without finding her face on a magazine stand, so it’s no wonder she’s launching her first fashion line in secret. With it debuting at New York Fashion Week in just under a month, extra time in the spotlight is the last thing she needs.

The son of the best quarterback the league has ever seen, filling legendary shoes as the L.A. Vipers’ quarterback was inevitable for Corey Jackson. So was meeting Leah Veronica—the first girl to hand him his ass without putting a hair out of place.

Getting the handsome, prickly blonde into his bed becomes his number one goal. But getting the sexy, over-confident footballer the hell away from her becomes Leah’s—at least until she realizes the best way to do that is to give him what he wants.

If only it was that simple.

When Corey discovers who she is, and private photos of Hollywood’s finest find their way online, everything they thought they knew is thrown into disarray.

And when secrets are exposed and hearts are shattered, they have to figure out if they’ve been blindsided by love or reality, and if it’s worth running the extra yard to win the game they never meant to play.

~ Review ~
4 Stars

This was a great first book in this new series.  I can't wait to read about the other characters.

Leah tries her hardest to stay out of the media.  With her mom being a famous actress they are always wanting some dirt on her so she tries to stay out of the spotlight.  She doesn't do things that will draw attention to her.  So when playboy Quarterback Corey Jackson starts showing interest in her she pushes him away.  She doesn't want to be attracted to him, but it's hard not to be.  Can she give him a chance and not become the highlight of the tabloids?  Or will she end up losing everything she has worked so hard for?

Corey is living the life; football, fame and all the woman he could ever want.  What more could a guy want?  From the moment he sees Leah across the bar he wants her.  Her turning him down and not buying his lines has him wanting her more.  Can he break her down and get her under him?  Or will he finally fail at something?

I feel like I needed a little more from this story.  It felt drawn out in places and lacking in others.  I will definitely read the other books in this series.  I love football so I really enjoyed that aspect of this book.

~ Excerpt ~

“Thought you didn’t want me?” I whisper in her ear. “Hasn’t that been your motto for days?”
“I…don’t…” she replies breathily.
I curl my fingers inside her and push down on her clit. “Don’t give me that shit, Leah. My fingers are inside your gorgeously tight pussy right now. Don’t tell me you don’t fuckin’ want me.”
She drops her head forward onto my shoulder as I continue to work her, to rub her, to bring her closer to the edge. Before she goes, I pull my fingers from her and hold her face in front of mine.
“Corey,” she whispers. It’s deep and low, seductive and begging, and it’s music to my fucking ears.
“Tell me you want me.” I graze my teeth across her bottom lip. “Tell me you want me and I’ll give you what you need.”
“I want you.” Her breath fans over my mouth.
“Say my name.”
“Demanding bastard.” She manages a laugh, but it’s breathy and desperate. “I want you, Corey. Okay? I want you.”
My whole body goes taut, tight. Yes. Those are the words I’ve fucking wanted. I don’t care if I’ve had to tease her with my fingers and hold an orgasm for ransom to get them. What matters is that she said them, and she can’t take them back—not when she’s gyrating her hips against my hand.
“Corey,” she moans softly. “Now finish me off, for the love of fucking God.”
I move my fingers quickly inside her and rub her clit. And I look at her. I watch her lips part and her eyes close and her cheeks flush. I feel her breath quicken and her muscles tighten around me and her juices over my fingers. And finally, I hear her cry out as she comes. I hear her cry my motherfucking name into my shoulder as she comes.
My. Fucking. Name.
Her body collapses against mine, and I press kisses along her jaw to her lips. I cup the back of her head and hold her to me. Her falling apart in my arms is the most goddamn beautiful thing I’ve ever seen. The glaze over her eyes, the quickening of her breathing, the moans from between those lips.

“You. Bastard,” she whispers into my neck.
