Lexie Banks has.
Yep. She just had mind-blowing sex with her stepbrother. In her defense, she was on the rebound, and it’s more of a my-dad-happened-to-marry-a-woman-with-a-super-hot-son situation. But still, he’s been her best friend and confidant for the better part of the last few years … and is so off limits. It’s a good thing she’s leaving in two days for a year abroad in Rome.
But even thousands of miles away, Lexie can’t seem to escape trouble. Raised Catholic, she goes to confession in hopes of alleviating some of her guilt … and maybe not burning in hell. Instead, she stumbles out of the confessional and right into Alessandro Moretti, a young and very easy-on-the-eyes deacon … only eight months away from becoming a priest. Lexie and Alessandro grow closer, and when Alessandro’s signals start changing despite his vow of celibacy, she doesn’t know what to think. She’s torn between falling in love with the man she shouldn’t want and the man she can’t have. And she isn’t sure how she can live with herself either way.

~ Our Review ~
3.5 Star Review by Annie
Wow. What a cluster fuck! At first when I read the synopsis I was thinking, I can’t read this. A brother and a sister! GROSS! Then I was like ok maybe I should just start it and see where it goes. Let me tell you I am glad I gave it a chance. It goes to show that you should never judge a book by its cover…or synopsis in my case.
Two days prior to Lexie leaving for Italy for a year abroad, she finally realizes that she has deep feelings for Trent, her stepbrother. They finally take their relationship to the next level, but instantly feel guilty. So she leaves for Italy and he leaves to go back to school.
Now here is where it becomes CRAZY! The guilt eats at her and she finds herself in a confessional booth. Confessing all her sins. Lord knows she has a lot of them. She basically knows she has a one way ticket to hell! The priest tells her in order to keep impure thoughts of Trent away she needs to keep herself busy, and he has just the guy to help.
Reverened Moretti is in charge of a youth program. He puts Lexie to work and becomes a fast friend. The only problem is, he is slowly starting to have feelings for her. Is the perish where he belongs? Or is she just a test from god?
This is the love triangle of all love triangles. It is almost shocking how messed up one girl can get. She has her brother (ok step brother, but it’s still her brother) on one hand and a soon to be priest on another. I have heard jokes start off that way, but never in a book! I wanted to shake her, smack some sense into her, and tell her to get her shit together. Lexie is always wanting what she can’t, or better yet shouldn’t have.
The major downfall to this book was that it sort of made me feel dumb. It was a reminder of how much I didn’t pay attention in school. It was one history lesson after another. It needed more romance and less history.
