Series Sale: A Series of Imperfections by A.E. Woodward

~ Imperfectly Perfect ~

Emma, Tyler and Shane have been best friends since they were kids. Along with their college addition, Rob, the four friends have an exciting life in NYC. In fact, Emma Sloan appears to have it all.

Despite being happy with her current situation, a big family announcement leaves Emma questioning whether she is truly content with her life. With her thirtieth birthday fast approaching she vows to find her 'perfect' man any way she can. But Emma will soon discover that the path of true love never runs smoothly and that sometimes, instead of chasing love, you have to wait for love to find you...

~ Imperfectly Real ~

When nothing in your life goes right … go left.

Tyler Johnston has a life that would be the envy of most twenty-somethings. He lives in New York City, surrounded by his closest friends, has a job in a field he loves, and remains unattached—able to flit from one lady to the next without responsibility. Only problem is, Tyler isn’t in his twenties anymore…

Having watched two of his best friends fall in love and start a family, Tyler is left wondering what will become of his life. So when life hands Tyler his happy ever after, he struggles with his conscience. Can something be right when it’s so very, very wrong? Because everyone knows that two wrongs don’t make a right. In fact, most of the time, they just make things a whole lot worse.

~ Imperfectly Bad ~

I’m Rob Ziviani. Oh, you’ve heard of me? Wait, did we? Oh yeah, I remember.

No, that’s a lie, I don’t remember. I’ve had most of New York City and I don’t really remember any of them. There’s only ever been one. . .

This is my story. Read it, don’t read it. I really don’t give a damn. It’s not going to change my life, so why the hell should I care?

Because I don’t care about anything.

Not since her.

I was so excited to read this book.  I couldn't wait to see who Mia ended up with.  In book one I loved Richard and in book two I loved Cam.  I had one that I really wanted her to end up with.  Who does she end up with?

Mia is almost done with her training.  She is having a hard time saying goodbye to Cam.  She has fallen for him, but she also loves Richard.  But Cam is there for her during this time of need.  Hopefully when Richard comes back he will be the man she needs.  Can Richard protect her?

Richard wants Mia.  Mia saved him.  When he was at his lowest and wanting life to end Mia came in and showed him he could still live.  He also needs a well trained sub and he can't train Mia. He gives Mia over to Cam to be trained by the best.  But is Richard making a mistake?  Can he handle his best friend being with his love?

Cam is use to training subs that belong to other men.  He doesn't do love.  He is content until Mia.  He sees something special in Mia and is enthralled with her.  He also knows she is the reason his best friend is still alive.  Even though he wants Mia he is having trouble with taking her because he can't betray his friendship with Richard.  What happens between these three?

This was a great conclusion to this trilogy.  I needed an epilogue or something more.  I can't say what really bothered me because it would spoil the book for you and you need to go on this journey yourself.   I would really like to see some stories on some secondary characters in this series!!!!

But life isn’t finished with her, and when things can’t possibly get worse . . . they do.

It’s Cameron Kyle’s motto, but with his fighting career ripped from his grasp, a child he wasn’t strong enough to save, and a marriage that even the brawn of a heavyweight couldn’t hold together, it’s getting harder and harder to stay upright. He takes on the position of CEO of the UFL, intent on hiding his biggest weakness in order to forge a path that leads him back into the octagon.

When an old rival mysteriously gets wind of Cameron’s plan to fight again, he comes out of retirement to settle old debts, but secrets, lies, and betrayal threaten to deliver the death-blow. Will they risk it all and fight to be together?

This book was really good.  I love this series, but I'm still a Blake lover.  He is my favorite and some of the things he says in this book are amazing.

Eve has never had an easy life.  She is a hard worker.  She wants what her best friend Raven has, but she can't have that especially since she swore off men.  After the last betrayal by Vince that almost got Raven killed she is leery of trusting men.  But when Cam enters the picture she can't stay away.  She knows he's going to break her heart, but she still puts herself out there for him.

Cam is a hard, bitter man.  He's had two very powerful things happen to him to cause him to be this way.  He never wanted to stop fighting.  But after everything that happened he didn't have a choice.  He is still training for another chance to get into the octagon and fight again.  But is that a wise decision?  Can he let Eve into his life?  He has never really put anything or anyone above his fighting career.  But will Eve be the one who can make him settle down and enjoy life again?

This book has a couple issues for me.  I had a hard to with the age difference in some places and then I don't think that the ending answered all the questions I had especially pertaining to the fight.  But other than that this was a great book and I cannot wait for more books in this series.  I really hope Mason, Killer and Axelle are getting books soon.

~ Excerpt ~
Cameron

Meeting with the whiners. Check. Weigh-ins. Check. I’m flipping through the pages and checking off things I’ve completed when I feel her eyes on me.
I don’t look up from my lists, but hear her feet on the carpet and finally the sound of creaking wood as she takes a seat across from me. “You got something to say?”
“Can I ask you something?”
“As long as you make it fast.” Her silence brings my eyes to her contemplative expression.
“I noticed you’re not married.” She tilts her head to my left hand that is very much without a wedding ring.
Not anymore. “And?”
“Nothing really. Just surprised.”
I lean back in my chair as irritation pinches my brows. “Surprised.”
She shrugs. “Yeah, I mean you seem like a decent guy.”
I’m not. “You seem like a decent woman and you aren’t married.” I nod to her empty left ring finger.
She grins. “That’s because I just got divorced. Marriage jumping isn’t my thing.”
This feels like one of those you-share-I-share conversations that I do not participate in. I find if I can bite back my impulsive outbursts and stay zipped people eventually give up.
She twirls a strand of her long blond hair. “Ever been married?”
I lock my jaw and wait, but she doesn’t fucking budge and stares with expectant eyes. Something tells me we’ll be here all day if I don’t give her something. I’d lie, tell her I’ve never been married, but if I plan on digging in here for the long haul, I’m going to have to give her enough to keep her satisfied.
“Once.”
Her eyes light up as if she just realized we belong to the same super-secret club. “Really.”
What is it about sharing that creates this weird expectation from people? As if simply telling another person about your past allows them some special access into friendship. I don’t do friendship.
I flip through my notebook and hope like hell this conversation is headed toward The End.
“Any kids?”
My hand freezes mid page-turn, and a whisper of pain echoes through my gut that would usually be followed by a cringe, but not anymore. I clear my throat and refocus on my notebook. “I have a son.”
“Oh, that’s cool.” She’s silent for a few beats that are probably uncomfortable for her but don’t bother me at all. “I have a daughter.”
The rumble of an old hurt reverberates against my shield. Ten years ago those words would’ve bled me alive, but not anymore. “Mm.”
“How old—”
“Look, I really have a lot to do.” I’m still studying the pages of my notebook like a complete asshole, but honest to God it’s as if we’re about to bust out some knitting needles and tiny sandwiches.
“Sure thing.” She hops up and moves toward the door when she turns suddenly. “Oh, I forgot. We’re having a party after the fight tonight. The Blackout. You should come.”
“Thanks, but”—I flip a page and another—“I think I’ll go home after the fight. Long day.”
“Suit yourself. If you change your mind, we’ll be there.” She’s gone with the soft click of my office door.
After party. Haven’t been to one of those in a while, at least not many I remember. The little flashes I’ve managed to retain carry good feelings of camaraderie with the team. I groan and lean back in my desk chair. My goal is to get back into the octagon, but until then I need to run this organization and put it back on its feet. The fighters got screwed by Gibbs and are having trust issues. I get that. Maybe showing up at this party is a smart move after all. Just for one drink. Should be painless enough.

Eve:

With my head down, I make way to my car when I notice a familiar car parked next to mine. I look up and my steps freeze just feet away. Leaning against my car, arms crossed at his chest, long powerful legs crossed at his ankles, is Cameron.
My hand clutches my purse to my side. “Hey, what are you doing here?” I internally scold myself for sounding more defensive than happy to see him. He can’t possibly know what’s in my purse.
It’s been days since I’ve seen him, and our quick telephone conversations do little to slake my desire to see him in the flesh.
He shrugs. “Passing by, saw the place was closed for the night. Thought I’d hang out and see if I could speak to the manager.”
My stomach jumps and goes warm. He came all the way here just to see me?
“Did you have a bad experience? Like to make a formal complaint?”
He pushes off my car and takes two steps toward me. Close, but not close enough. His eyes set in their usual glare, he shoves his hands into the pockets of his dark washed jeans. “Mmm . . .” He rubs his fingers across his lower lip, as he did the night in front of Mason. His eyes burn through me. “I have no complaints about my . . . experience.”
His presence combined with his insinuation become too much and I drop my gaze. A tickle of caution pricks at my subconscious, reminding me that I’m not the kind of girl who shies away from flirtation. I’m not timid, demure, or easily swayed by just any man. But there are a few who have brought me to my emotional knees, and both of them I dislike. Immensely.
His feet move into my line of site, and I pull my gaze up to settle on his face. How is he even more beautiful than I remember with all that thick dark hair, his fierce jaw, and full lips that I know are as powerful as they are soft?
“What’re your plans tonight?” He reaches out and brushes my bangs off my forehead.
Such a tiny gesture, but the sweetness of it makes my eyes flutter. “I was going to grab a bite to eat.”
His eyebrows pinch together. “You hungry? I’ll take you to dinner.”
I look around at the empty parking lot then move my eyes back to his. “Now?”
“You hungry now?”
“Very.”
“Then yeah. Now.”
“But it’s the middle of the night.”
The corner of his mouth lifts so slightly it’s barely noticeable. “It’s Vegas, babe.”
“But I’m in the mood for a bacon cheeseburger.” I lick my lips. I can almost taste the greasy goodness. “With green chilis.” My stomach grumbles in agreement. “And onion rings. Not the battered ones, but those breadcrumb ones.” I hum low in my throat. “Oh, and a chocolate milkshake or an ice cold beer will also do.” I tap my lips, thinking. “Hm. Maybe both.”

So lost in my food-fantasy I don’t notice the way he’s staring at me until I focus on him. His glare isn’t as tight as it usually is, and his mouth isn’t the straight—but full and kissable—line it usually is. It’s as if someone pulled the starch from his expression, not completely relaxed, but tender.

I loved this book.  It was awesome to see the recovery process with both main characters.

Frannie is finally become what she wanted to.  She has her first job as a addiction therapist.  She loves her new job and where it is located.  She has no worries until the sexy rocker Tyke shows up.  He is everything she wants in a guy, but everything she needs to stay away from.  Can she stay away?  Or is the temptation too much?

Tyke doesn't believe he has an addiction.  He thinks he is just fine and that his band mates are wrong.  He doesn't understand how they can put the band on the back burner.  He wants them to be like they were before they all got with their woman.  Can Tyke realize that just because the band isn't their only love anymore that they still love the band too?  Can Tyke fall in love?

This is an amazing ending to this series. I loved that the epilogue was a little from all their POV's.  It was not long enough.  I wanted more.

Freeing Him Final 2
~ Synopsis ~

*This novel contains mature content and is not intended for younger readers. Kolson Hart and Gabriella Martinelli…destined to be together, fated to be torn apart. After avoiding his father for years, Kolson knew asking his father, Langston Hart, for a favor would be like selling his soul to the devil. Only the devil wants more ... more than Kolson is willing to pay. But some promises can’t be broken, not without losing what’s most important. For Kolson, that’s Gabriella Martinelli. Left with two choices–pay up or risk everything–Kolson’s only way out is to do something drastic, something so monumental not even Langston will be able to interfere. The question is: Will it be enough to guarantee Gabriella's safety from his father? Kolson freed Gabriella from her past, and now he’s risking everything for her again. Will she be able to save him from the demon that hunts him? Or is fate too strong for them to fight? As the suds rinse, I stare at and memorize everything about her. A deep clenching pain rips through my gut, and then I know it’s not true what they say about your heart breaking. It doesn’t even come close. Your heart doesn’t break. A gash splits your gut wide open and then it expands straight on up to your sternum until your heart explodes out of your chest. The f***ing thing isn’t broken. It’s goddamn annihilated. And there isn’t enough superglue in the entire world to piece it back together again. And then parts of you start to fall off, one by one. And you know it’s not possible to ever be put back together again. You’re f***ing Humpty Dumpty.

I was really looking forward to this book. I couldn't wait to see what happened with Kolson and Gabby.

Gabby is finally learning to live after Danny is found dead.  She no longer has to look over her shoulder wondering when he will find her again.  But now she has to get Kolson to open up to her.  He is keeping his past a secret and Gabby knows he needs to share it to help himself heal and move on.  Can she help him?

Kolson is living in HELL.  He wants to share with Gabby what happened to him as a child, but he is afraid she will leave him once she finds out.  He knows he has to do something once his father comes to him to request payment for the debt.  But what happens when Kolson isn't willing to give what his father wants?  Can Kolson protect himself and Gabby?

This book will leave you on the edge of your seat in parts.  Wondering what is going to happen next.  I was expecting more to be the cause of Kolson's pain.  And I thought the beginning was a little slow so I cannot give five stars :(

~ Exclusive Excerpt ~
Kolson

“Mommy! Mommy! I’m scared. Where are you?” Dark. It’s so dark. I can’t see anything and my throat hurts so bad. I want my mommy. But she won’t answer me. Why won’t she come? She always comes when I call her at night. But she doesn’t come this time. And I keep calling her. My Spiderman pajamas are wet and I want my blankie because I’m cold. My teeth make a clicking noise because they keep chattering and they won’t stop. I have to pee again and I don’t know where the potty is. I’ve already wet myself once and I don’t want to do it again. Mommy will be mad at me and I don’t want to ruin my Spiderman pajamas. Maybe if I roll up in a ball I’ll be warmer. After a while it doesn’t help much, so I call for Mommy some more. But she still doesn’t come. There’s a noise somewhere and I lift my head. I think I was sleeping. “Mommy, is that you? Mommy!” I sit up and it’s still so dark out. I want to see my Spiderman pajamas so I hold my arm in front of my face but it’s too dark to see anything. I scream. And scream so long my throat hurts. And I cry. “Mommy! I want my mommy!” I curl up, knees to chest, and rock back and forth, crying for Mommy. But she never comes. Something scrapes in front of me. Is it a monster? I think there’s a monster in here and I scream. “Shut up. Stop that screaming or I’ll leave.” I can’t stop screaming. I try but they keep coming out of me, even though I don’t want them to. Something covers my mouth, and a mean man tells me if I don’t shut up, I’ll have to stay in the dark forever. His voice scares me more than the dark. More than not having my mommy. My body shakes and suddenly my voice is gone. I can’t talk. “That’s better. Now listen. This is your new home and the sooner you learn some manners, the better it will be. Behave, and your life will be easy. Obey me, and you’ll be given treats. Disobey, and you’ll be left here alone. Do you understand me?” The mean man says things to me but I don’t know what they mean. I only sit and try to see him. But I only see the dark. “Good. Now eat this.” Something is pushed into my mouth. I can’t eat it because my throat hurts so bad. I start to choke. Then I vomit. The mean man yells and he wipes my face. It’s so dark, I can’t see him. “Drink.” He shoves a straw in my mouth and I drink. When I do, it burns my throat and I cry. “More.” I drink more but it hurts. My face is wet from crying. “Good.” Then I hear the scraping sound and it’s quiet again. And I curl up and cry. I want my mommy. I want her to sing to me and rub my back like she does when my head hurts. I want her to kiss me and tell me a story. I want to tell her I didn’t mean it when I did those bad things and didn’t listen to her. Maybe that’s why she’s not here now. I’m sorry, Mommy. I didn’t mean it. I’ll be good. Come back, Mommy. It’s often said that an addict has to hit rock bottom before they can begin their journey to recovery. My story is much different. Surprisingly enough, I’m not an addict and never have been. But I’ve been at the bottom. More than once. I hit it the first time when I was only seven years old. Not only was it the bottom. It was hell. It’s when I learned to lick the fiery flames of the devil himself. Only my devil was a dragon. Also known as my father. What I didn’t realize was that time was only a dip in the barrel compared to what would happen to me later. The first time I thought he broke me but I didn’t know how wrong I was. It wasn’t until later that I realized what kind of destruction he could spawn. And that time I didn’t only break, he took me apart piece by piece, until there was nothing left to crush. William Shakespeare wrote, “If you prick us, do we not bleed? If you tickle us, do we not laugh? If you poison us, do we not die? And if you wrong us, shall we not revenge?” Well, for years I was wronged. And now I plan to seek revenge. Carefully, slowly, and methodically. And when the time is right, I will strike with everything I have.

One day, on her way home from work as a sales manager, A. M. Hargrove, realized her life was on fast forward and if she didn't do something soon, it would quickly be too late to write that work of fiction she had been dreaming of her whole life. So, she rolled down the passenger window of her fabulous (not) company car and tossed out her leather briefcase. Luckily, the pedestrian in the direct line of fire was a dodge ball pro and had über quick reflexes enabling him to avoid getting bashed in the head. Feeling a tad guilty about the near miss, A. M. made a speedy turn down a deserted side street before tossing her crummy, outdated piece-of-you-know-what lap top out the window. She breathed a liberating sigh of relief, picked up her cell phone, called her boss and quit her job. Grinning, she made another call to her hubs and told him of her new adventure (after making sure his heart was beating properly again). So began A. M. Hargrove's career as a YA/NA and Adult Romance writer. Her books include Kissing Fire, Edge of Disaster, Shattered Edge, the series the Guardians of Vesturon (Survival, Resurrection, Determinant, Beginnings and reEmergent), Dark Waltz, Tragically Flawed, Tragic Desires, and Exquisite Betrayal. Other than being in love with being in love, she loves chocolate, ice cream and coffee and is positive they should be added as part of the USDA food groups. (If you're wondering, it didn't happen EXACTLY that way, but….) You can also find her on Goodreads as Emerson St. Clair. Her novella series, Dirty Nights, is available and those are a little dark, a little erotic and a lot sexy!

Let me start by saying when I agreed to this book I had no idea what it was about.  The blurb and excerpts hadn't been released yet.  I love Courtney Cole so I knew I had to read this book.  The only thing I knew was The Letter from Author!!  I'm going to say now that I can't say much about this book without giving the whole story away.  But you definitely need to read it!!

How do you survive life being an outcast?  You turn to your twin and you build an even stronger bond.  That is what Callie and Finn did.  They did everything together.  They planned going to the same college and everything.  Callie needed to look after Finn and Finn needed Callie to help ground him.

Enter Dare DuBray.

Callie wants Dare, but also feels as if she is leaving her brother.  Their bond is so strong she feels guilty.  Can she have a relationship or will it cause her to lose Finn? If she picks Finn then she won't have any other relationships.  How do you get to a happy medium?

This book is amazing.  I never saw some of this happening.  It definitely left me with a WTF just happened moment.  I almost gave up at the beginning, but I am so happy that I didn't because this is one of those books that you have to experience. It doesn't matter what anyone else says about this book YOU need to read and make your own opinion on it.  This book will move you and show you how people react to extremely intense situations.  It makes you wonder how you would handle the situation if you were in their shoes.  I am very happy that Courtney Cole wrote this book this way.  And that she didn't change anything.

~ Excerpt ~

Glancing up, I suck my breath in when I find dark eyes connected to mine, eyes so dark they’re almost black, and the energy in them is enough to freeze me in place. A boy is attached to the dark gaze. A man.  He’s probably no more than twenty or twenty-one, but everything about him screams man.  There’s no boy in him.  That part of him is very clearly gone.  I see it in his eyes, in the way he holds himself, in the perceptive way he takes in his surroundings, then stares at me with singular focus, like we’re somehow connected by a tether.  He’s got a million contradictions in his eyes….aloofness, warmth, mystery, charm, and something else I can’t define. He’s muscular, tall, and wearing a tattered black sweatshirt that says Irony is lost on you in orange letters.  His dark jeans are belted with black leather, and a silver band encircles his middle finger. Dark hair tumbles into his face and a hand with long fingers impatiently brushes it back, all the while his eyes are still connected with mine.  His jaw is strong and masculine, with the barest hint of stubble. His gaze is still connected to mine, like a livewire, or a lightning bolt.  I can feel the charge of it racing along my skin, like a million tiny fingers, flushing my cheeks.  My lungs flutter and I swallow hard. And then, he smiles at me. At me.  Because I don’t know him and he doesn’t know better.

  Headshot
Courtney Cole is a novelist who would eat mythology for breakfast if she could. She has a degree in Business, but has since discovered that corporate America is not nearly as fun to live in as fictional worlds. She loves chocolate and roller coasters and hates waiting and rude people. Courtney lives in quiet suburbia, close to Lake Michigan, with her real-life Prince Charming, her ornery kids (there is a small chance that they get their orneriness from their mother) and a small domestic zoo.
